At Outpost Books, we are dedicated to highlighting diverse voices in science fiction while reviving overlooked classics of literary value. These guidelines will help you understand what we're looking for in submissions.
Diverse Science Fiction
We are particularly interested in submissions that highlight diverse characters, creators, and authors. If you're aiming to publish through the Outpost imprint, your science fiction work must champion and support diversity. For those interested in contributing to the Outpost Legacy series, please provide a sample of well-researched work. We explore often-overlooked classic sci-fi, offering essays and modern perspectives on these literary treasures.
Formatting and AI Usage
Please submit your work in either PDF or DOC format. Honesty and transparency regarding the use of AI tools are crucial. AI assistance doesn't lead to automatic rejection; instead, we assess each case based on how the tool was employed and the final quality of the work. Be upfront and honest with us! At this stage, we're not looking for cover designs or formatted manuscripts. If you're submitting an art book, kindly send low-resolution, watermarked images.
Rights and Compensation
Outpost Books will never ask you to pay for publishing services. If we decide to publish your work, we will collaborate with you to establish an agreement regarding involvement and royalty arrangements. Although there may be opportunities for advertising where you can use your own funds for promotion, Outpost Books will never require you to pay to be published under our imprint.
Our Review Process
Every submission will receive a response within 6 months of its submission date. We appreciate your patience as we carefully review each piece.
